Chima Anyaso Says Labour Party’s National Convention Will Help Reposition Party Ahead of 2027 Elections, Calls for Unity

A chieftain of the Labour Party and prominent political figure, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso (Ofuji Bende), has expressed optimism that the just-concluded National Convention of the party will serve as a strategic platform to reposition it ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking with newsmen during the convention held at the International Conference Centre Umuahia, Dr. Anyaso emphasized that the gathering provided an opportunity for internal consolidation, renewed leadership direction, and strengthened grassroots mobilization across the country.
According to him, the Labour Party must emerge from the convention more united, better organized, and focused on delivering credible leadership capable of meeting the expectations of Nigerians.
“The National Convention is not just a routine political gathering; it is a defining moment for the Labour Party. It offers us the chance to rebuild trust, strengthen internal democracy, and reposition the party as the true vehicle for national transformation ahead of 2027,” Anyaso stated.
He called on party leaders, stakeholders, and members at all levels to set aside personal interests and embrace unity, stressing that cohesion within the party remains the foundation for electoral success.
Dr. Anyaso further noted that Nigerians are increasingly looking toward the Labour Party as a credible alternative. He urged delegates and party leaders to prioritize competence, inclusiveness, and transparency in decision-making processes.
“The strength of any political party lies in its unity. If we stand together, respect democratic principles, and focus on the collective good, the Labour Party will not only grow stronger but will also record major victories in 2027,” he added.
Reaffirming his commitment to the ideals of the party, Anyaso encouraged young people, women, and grassroots supporters to remain actively engaged in party activities, noting that their participation would shape the future direction of the Labour Party.
