TEACHERS: THE BEDROCK OF A PROGRESSIVE SOCIETY , THEY INSPIRE MINDS, BUILD CHARACTER AND SHAPE FUTURE — CHIEF BOURDEX
…As He Celebrates World Teachers’ Day with Teachers Across Abia North
The Labour Party Senatorial Candidate for Abia North, Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex, OFR, OON, joined the Executive Governor of Abia State, the government and people of Abia State, and teachers across the state in celebrating the 2026 World Teachers’ Day on Monday, October 5, 2026.
The colourful celebration, held at the famous Okpara Square, Umuahia, brought together teachers from across the state, who expressed excitement and appreciation to the state government for its commitment to improving teachers’ welfare and for its ongoing efforts to rebuild, renovate and equip schools across Abia.
Chief Bourdex, who served as the Mayor of Ohafia Local Government Area and was known for prioritising the welfare of workers and teachers during his tenure, joined the celebration to honour teachers for their invaluable contributions to society.
In his message, Chief Bourdex described teachers as the bedrock of a progressive society, stressing that their influence extends far beyond the classroom.
He stated that “Good teachers don’t just teach lessons; they inspire minds, build character and shape the future.”
He noted that teachers are dream moulders, guides and beacons of hope, adding that the quality of teaching, discipline and values promoted within the school system have a direct impact on the quality of society produced.
According to him, a sound and properly managed educational system will produce responsible, disciplined and productive citizens, while a weak or corrupt system risks reproducing the same negative values in future generations.
The Abia North Senatorial Candidate further assured the people of Abia North that, if elected, he would work to attract educational projects and interventions to complement the efforts of the state government, particularly in schools across the Senatorial District.
He also pledged to support policies and initiatives aimed at repositioning the education sector, improving learning outcomes, strengthening infrastructure and making the educational system more effective, efficient and responsive to the needs of students and teachers.
Chief Bourdex congratulated teachers across Abia State on the occasion and commended them for their dedication, sacrifice and commitment to moulding the next generation.
