World Teachers’ Day: Abia APC Governorship Candidate, Chief Eric Opah Congratulates Abia Teachers, Pledges Better Welfare
In commemoration of World Teachers’ Day 2026, Abia State APC Governorship hopeful, Chief Eric Opah, has congratulated teachers across Abia State and Nigeria, describing them as the backbone of nation-building.
Chief Opah, in a goodwill message released on Sunday, celebrated the invaluable contributions of teachers to the development of Abia State, noting that no society can rise above the quality of its teachers.
According to him, teachers deserve more than celebration, they deserve deliberate policies that will improve their welfare, dignity and working conditions.
“Our teachers in Abia have shown resilience, commitment and sacrifice in the face of daunting challenges. They continue to mould our children and shape our future despite poor welfare. They are our true heroes and they must be celebrated,” he stated.
The APC chieftain extolled Abia teachers for their role in sustaining education in the state and assured them that their sacrifices will not go unnoticed.
He further pledged that when given the mandate, his administration will prioritize teachers’ welfare, prompt payment of salaries, training and retraining, and provision of modern teaching infrastructure across Abia schools.
Chief Opah wished all Abia teachers a happy World Teachers’ Day celebration and prayed for more strength for them in their noble profession.
