2027: Bende Traditional Rulers Agreed House of Representatives Seat Should Return to Bende North — HRH Eze Uwakwe Ukaegbu
The 3rd Deputy Chairman of the Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers and traditional ruler of Igbere, HRH Eze Uwakwe Ukaegbu, has stated that traditional rulers in Bende Local Government Area reached and signed an agreement that the Bende Federal Constituency seat should return to Bende North (Umunna Bloc) after the completion of the eight-year tenure of the current occupant, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu which began in 2019.
The monarch made the disclosure on Thursday while receiving the Labour Party’s candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr. Chima Anyaso, during a courtesy visit to his palace in Igbere.
According to Eze Ukaegbu, the agreement was jointly endorsed by traditional rulers across Bende to uphold the principle of rotational representation between Bende South and Bende North.
“I was part of the signing of the document. I signed the agreement. Eze Akaliro, Patrick Ude, we were four that signed the agreement as Leaders of Traditionals which had 65 Monarchs from Bende “
He added that although he was still searching for his personal copy of the agreement, he remained confident it would be found.
“I have been looking for my own copy, and I know that I will get the document soon,” he stated.
The royal father maintained that the traditional rulers would remain committed to the understanding reached, insisting that 2027 is the turn of Bende North to produce the next member representing Bende Federal Constituency.
His remarks come as political consultations and alignments continue to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections in Abia State.
