Over 3,000 Storm Obingwa as Evansino Declares for House of Reps Seat, Pledges People-Centered Representation

A wave of excitement swept through Eziama Ntighauzor in Obingwa Local Government Area on Friday, May 15, 2026, as more than 3,000 supporters, party faithful, and community stakeholders gathered to witness the official declaration of interest by Obingwa businessman, evangelist, philanthropist, and founder of EVANSINO Humanitarian Foundation, Ambassador Emmanuel Josiah, to contest for the Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives under the Labour Party.

The declaration, which took place at his country home, turned into a political and community rallying point, drawing dignitaries, youth groups, women associations, and political leaders from across the three local government areas of the constituency.

Ambassador Josiah, popularly known as Evansino, described his ambition as a continuation of his long-standing commitment to humanitarian service and community development. He reflected on his personal journey marked by hardship and resilience, noting that his lived experiences shaped his passion for service and empathy for the vulnerable.

Through the EVANSINO Humanitarian Foundation, he highlighted interventions ranging from scholarships and school fee support to medical outreaches, surgeries, borehole provision, and empowerment programmes for youths and women across communities. He stated that his decision to seek elective office was driven by a desire to deepen impact through accountable and people-focused representation.

He pledged to prioritize opportunities for youths, empowerment for women, improved welfare for the elderly, and equitable development across all communities in the constituency, emphasizing a vision of leadership rooted in listening and service rather than personal gain.

The event received strong backing from key political and community figures within the Labour Party. The Labour Party Chairman for Obingwa Local Government Area, Hon. Tony Ngwakwe, described Evansino as a grassroots-oriented figure whose humanitarian activities have already made significant impact across Obingwa, especially among farmers, women, children, and youths.

According to him, Evansino’s transition into politics represents an extension of his service to the people, expressing confidence that if given the party’s ticket, he would expand his capacity for community development at the national level.

The Mayor of Obingwa LGA, Hon. Maxwell Nwadike, also commended his contributions to human development, describing him as a young man whose work has positively influenced many lives, adding that he would serve effectively if given the opportunity.

In a brief closed-door interaction with journalists, the Labour Party State Chairman, Hon. Peter Azubuike, who arrived later due to other political engagements, described Evansino as a promising entrant into active politics. He noted that his declaration had already positioned him within the political landscape and wished him success in his political journey.

The event attracted a wide array of stakeholders, including party executives, the deputy Mayor of Obingwa LGA, the Secretary to Obingwa LGA, as well as socio-political groups such as Abia Arise, Chioma Abia, and the New Abia Movement. Community leaders, the Old Obioma Ngwa Concerned Stakeholders, and various youth organizations from Obingwa, Osisioma Ngwa, and Ugwunagbo also attended in large numbers, turning the occasion into a major political gathering in the constituency.
