Lady Patience Aguoru Empowers Widows in Annual Widows/Women Outreach
A UK-based public administrator and philanthropist, Lady Patience Aguoru, Pupularly called Ada Benson on Saturday hosted her annual Widows Outreach/Empowerment Programme in her hometown, Amaogwugwu Ohuhu, Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State.
At the event, four widows received business start-up funds/grants of 130k each to enable them establish small-scale businesses, she
also assured the beneficiaries of continuous monitoring, mentorship, and additional financial support for those who demonstrate commitment and impressive progress in their ventures.
While delivering the empowerment packages, she explained that the initiative aligns with the broader empowerment objectives of Abia Daughters in UK and Ireland through which she and other members of the group have continued to support widows and vulnerable women.
In addition to the selected beneficiaries, every one who participated in this year’s programme received cash gifts of 10k each and bags of rice were also shared ensuring that everyone went home happy
Addressing the women, Lady Aguoru urged them to remain prayerful, steadfast, and trusting in God, assuring them that future empowerment programmes would be expanded. She announced that the next phase of the empowerment initiative, scheduled for December 2026, will accommodate more widows as well as non-widows, as part of her commitment to inclusive community development.
The beneficiaries, visibly elated by the gesture, offered heartfelt prayers for Lady Patience Aguoru and Abia Daughters in UK and Ireland, asking God to grant her good health, sound mind, favour, and greater capacity to continue her humanitarian works for widows and the less privileged, while expressing gratitude for Abia Daughters in UK and Ireland their kind gestures over the years.
The programme climaxed in an atmosphere of joy and celebration, marked by singing, dancing, and refreshments provided for the women.
