THE MAN WHO DID NOT NEED A TITLE TO SERVE

There are men who become small when office leaves them, and there are men who become bigger when office leaves them. Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji belongs to the second company. He performed creditably when he held power as Speaker of the 7th Abia House of Assembly. But what proves his greatness is what he has done since. Without a title, without a budget, without a convoy, he is still performing well. That is not politics. That is character. That is a man who is sure and steadfast.

A SPEAKER WHO LEFT A LEGACY, NOT A SCANDAL

He did not preside over a House of chaos. He presided over a House of order. For four years, he held 24 strong-willed members together, passed laws that mattered, and kept the Assembly as a house of debate, not a house of war. He left office without scandal. He left office without bitterness. He left office with his honour intact. In Abia, where many leave office and run away from their people, Ikuku left office and walked straight back to his people. That alone separates him from the crowd.

SERVICE WITHOUT OFFICE IS THE TRUEST SERVICE

Anybody can share rice when he is in office. Anybody can be generous with government money. But Ikuku is generous with his own. Without being in office, he still pays school fees. Without being in office, he still supports widows. Without being in office, he still settles medical bills, supports churches, supports youths, supports communities in Ikwuano and Umuahia, even beyond. This is not campaign. This is who he is. Office did not make Ikuku a giver. Ikuku was a giver before office, during office, and after office.

A BUILDER WHO DOES NOT STOP BUILDING

Go to Ikwuano. Go to Umuahia. Ask the people. They will tell you that Ikuku’s hand is still at work. His boreholes still give water. His support for schools still stands. His hand in community projects is still felt. He does not wait for an election timetable to remember his people. He does not wait for a budget to be released to remember his constituency. He builds because he is a builder. He serves because he is a servant.

THE STEADFASTNESS OF A MAN WHO DOES NOT SHAKE

Politics in Abia has tested many men. Some have changed party like cloth. Some have changed friends like shoes. Some have changed principles for appointments. Not Ikuku. He is sure. He is steadfast. He does not shake with every wind. He does not betray his people for a plate of porridge. He stands where he stood yesterday. He will stand where he stands today. In a time of political prostitution, steadfastness is a virtue. Ikuku has it in abundance.

A LEADER WHO HONOURS EVERYBODY

Ikuku does not divide Ikwuano/Umuahia into indigenes and strangers. The Ebonyi trader in Ubakala is his brother. The Hausa man in Isi-Gate is his brother. The Yoruba woman in Umuahia is his sister. The Ikwuano farmer in Oloko is his father. He honours everybody because he understands that leadership is not about tribe. It is about humanity. He does not send aides to insult citizens who ask questions. He answers questions with work, and insults with honour.

PREPARED FOR 2027, NOT DESPERATE FOR 2027

Some men are desperate for 2027 because they have nothing else. Ikuku is prepared for 2027 because he has everything else – experience, character, record, and love of his people. He has studied Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency. He knows what its farmers need. He knows what its traders need. He knows what its youths need. He is not coming to Abuja to learn. He is coming to Abuja to deliver. And he is coming not because he needs Abuja, but because Abuja needs men like him.

NO EXCUSES, ONLY DELIVERY

Ikuku is not a man given to excuses. He does not say “they did not allow me.” He does not say “there was no money.” He does not say “my enemies fought me.” When there is a problem in Ikwuano/Umuahia, he finds a solution. When there is work, he does the work. That is why even out of office, he is still performing. Imagine what he will do when he is in office with the full mandate of Ikwuano/Umuahia behind him. Imagine what he will do when he has the full instruments of the Federal House in his hands.

SURE AND STEADFAST, NOW AND ALWAYS

So let the others do their gist. Let them do their noise. Ikwuano/Umuahia knows its own. It knows a man who performed when he had power, and still performs when he has no power. It knows a man who is sure in his convictions and steadfast in his service. In 2027, this constituency will not gamble. It will not experiment. It will choose the sure and the steadfast. It will choose Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji.
