Four Days Of Academic Excellence Culminate In The Emergence Of Four Finalists
Academic excitement is building-up across Arochukwu Local Government Area as the four schools that emerged victorious from the preliminary rounds of the Mayor’s Inter-School Quiz and Essay Writing Competition — 2026 Edition prepare for the highly anticipated grand finale scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, 2026.
The competition, which featured four days of intensive academic contests among secondary schools across the five clans of Arochukwu LGA, has successfully produced four finalists who will compete for the prestigious title of Mayor’s Inter-School Quiz and Essay Writing Champion, 2026 Edition.
Following impressive performances during the preliminary rounds, the qualifying schools and their respective scores are as follows:
🥇 Day 1: Aggrey Memorial Model College — 60 points
🥇 Day 2: Ovukwu Abam Secondary School — 57 points
🥇 Day 3: Umunnabuo Secondary Technical School — 55 points
🥇 Day 4: Ututu Secondary Technical School — 57 points
The four finalist schools demonstrated commendable intellectual ability, academic preparedness, and competitive spirit throughout the preliminary stages, earning them places in the grand finale.
_SIX SUBJECTS AND ESSAY WRITING TO TEST STUDENTS’ INTELLECTUAL ABILITY
At the grand finale, the participating schools will compete across six academic subjects and an essay-writing segment designed to assess their knowledge, critical thinking, communication skills, and proficiency in both English and Igbo languages.
The subjects for the competition are:
1. Mathematics
2. Physics
3. Chemistry
4. Biology
5. Computer Studies
6. English Language
7. Essay Writing
For the essay-writing segment, participating schools will be required to write their essays in English and translate them into Igbo, an exercise aimed at promoting bilingual proficiency, strengthening students’ command of indigenous language, and preserving the cultural heritage of the people.
