LEADERSHIP THAT WORKS FOR ALL: APC CANDIDATE, PRINCE MAYOR UKAEGBU UNVEILS UMUAHIA CENTRAL PEOPLE’S AGENDA AS 2027 CAMPAIGNS BEGIN
11 September 2026
My Dearest Friends, Members of the Press, Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen,
In accordance with the INEC timetable, campaigns for the 2027 Governorship and State Assembly elections commenced on 9 September 2026.
For me, this marks more than the beginning of another political season. As I present myself to serve the people of Umuahia Central Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, it is an opportunity to reflect on the kind of representation our people truly deserve.
I come before you with humility and conviction. I believe this is a divine project and our common mandate, and I trust that our people will support this vision for a new era of responsive, accountable and people centred representation.
*LEADERSHIP THAT LISTENS*
Leadership is not about occupying a seat. It is about carrying the voice of the people to where decisions are made, listening before acting, and returning to the people to give an account.
This is the foundation of * A Leadership That Works for All: The Umuahia Central People’s Agenda.”
For too long, decisions affecting our communities have sometimes been made without sufficient consultation with the people themselves. I intend to change that. We will listen before we act.
*SKILLS TO WORK: EMPOWERING OUR YOUTH*
Our young people do not need handouts alone. They need opportunities, skills, mentorship, access to support and pathways to meaningful work.
As a young entrepreneur who has experienced the challenges and possibilities of personal and professional development, I understand the importance of creating opportunities that enable people to build sustainable livelihoods.
Through my previous youth empowerment programmes, seminars and workshops, I have witnessed what targeted support can achieve. I believe it is time to take that experience to a larger platform through stronger advocacy, skills development, mentorship and support for young entrepreneurs.
*REPRESENTATION THAT BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE*
Umuahia Central deserves representation that is present, accessible and accountable.
The market woman, artisan, farmer, entrepreneur, young person, unemployed graduate, person living with disability and every vulnerable member of our constituency deserves to know that their voice matters.
My legislative and advocacy priorities will therefore focus on education, healthcare, youth skills and employment, small business development, agriculture, infrastructure and accountable governance.
We will bring government closer to the people through regular town hall meetings, constituency visits, community engagement and an accessible constituency office. Your concerns, suggestions, advice and aspirations will not merely be heard; they will inform our actions.
*THE PEOPLE MUST CHOOSE WISELY*
The wait is over. I am here, ready to change the narrative.
I call on every constituent of Umuahia Central to use this campaign season wisely. Interrogate every candidate. Examine our records, our character, our achievements outside politics, our capacity and, most importantly, our ability to keep the promises we make.
I therefore welcome a public debate among all candidates contesting for this position. Let the people hear our ideas, examine our records and judge our capacity to lead.
As we begin this journey, I call for a peaceful, issue based and violence free campaign. Let the competition be free and fair, and above all, let the will of the people prevail.
May God guide us, strengthen us and grant victory to the people.
All glory to God.
