Dear Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Rep. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, your constituents deserve answers.
Our field tracking across Bende LGA, Abia State, in June 2026 found five FG-funded projects worth over N1.4 billion yet to be delivered, despite records showing that contractors were paid between September and December 2025.
These projects include:
📍2 Hybrid Automated Cassava Processing Centres at Ezeukwu and Umuhu Ezechi communities, respectively.
📍A 2km Amaeke–Umuhu Ezechi Road.
📍579 Solar Streetlights across Igbere A, Igbere B, and Ugwueke/Ezeukwu wards.
During our visits, residents reported no knowledge of these projects, while the Amaeke-Umuhu Ezechi Road showed signs of abandoned work that stopped in 2024.
These projects were intended to improve livelihoods, strengthen security, and support local economic development. Communities should not be left waiting after public funds have been disbursed.
We call on Rep. Benjamin Okezie Kalu to use his office to facilitate engagement with the implementing MDAs and contractors, while urging the ICPC Nigeria, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, and House of Representatives, Federal Republic of Nigeria Committee on Public Accounts to investigate the status of these projects and ensure accountability for the funds released.
