DR. ANYASO GOES TO DERBY
As Keynote Speaker At England’s Prestigious Law School
The Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency in the 2027 elections, Dr. Desmond Chimaobi Anyaso, OFUJI, will today, Wednesday, 17th June 2026, in Derby, England, present the keynote address to a gathering of global experts in search of solutions to societal problems.
He speaks on the invitation of the organisers of the University of Derby Law School’s Annual Conference, which focuses on contemporary developments in international economic law.
According to the organisers, Dr. Anyaso was invited to the event “in recognition of his life achievements, his extension of opportunity to people, and his contributions to the advancement of society.”
Established in 1992, the University of Derby Law School has solidified its reputation as a distinguished institution of higher learning on both national and global scales.
It holds a Gold ranking from the prestigious Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2023, making it one of the top universities in the United Kingdom recognised for outstanding student experience and student outcomes.
It is also ranked 2nd in the UK for employability, with 94 percent of its graduates in employment or further study.
The Derby Law School conference operates under the auspices of the Centre for Justice, Law and Society, launched in 2023 as a forum for academics, practitioners, and experts to disseminate research outcomes and find solutions to societal problems.
Its previous conferences have drawn over 120 participants from diverse backgrounds including banking, compliance, financial intelligence units, international organisations, and academia.
The conference is hosted in collaboration with Cardiff University, the University of Portsmouth, and the London Centre for Commercial and Financial Law.Today’s conference will focus on how law can be used as a tool to resolve the challenges facing the world; improving institutional capacity for sustainable economic development, and examining the relationship between sustainability and environmental preservation, especially in developing countries.These are not abstract themes for Bende people. They are the lived questions of a constituency that deserves representation by someone who does not merely read about such matters in newspapers but is invited to shape the global conversation around them.
When a respected British university reaches across to invite a man to address some of the finest legal and economic minds in the world, that man carries his constituency on his shoulders whether he intends to or not.But, Ofuji has committed that every idea he advances under the lights of that Derby lecture hall today will speak for Bende; planting a flag that says from this constituency,, from this part of Abia State, we produce thinkers who are invited to the world’s tables.
