The list of markets in Abia Central Senatorial District benefiting from the “Light Up the Market Initiative” of Senator Austin Akobundu keeps growing as the Ekeobasi Market in Osisioma LGA was added to the number on Friday when the installation of the solar-powered streetlights in the market were completed and switched on. This followed the installation and operationalisation of the streetlights at the Nkwo Ebe market in Umunkpeyi Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South LGA, on Thursday.

Other markets that had earlier benefitted from the solar-powered streetlights projects of Senator Austin Akobundu include Apumiri and Ahiaukwu markets in Umuahia South LGA, Obikabia and Nkwo Nsulu markets in Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Ahiaeke market in Umuahia North LGA, Ekeonyeugba market, Mbutu, in Isiala Ngwa South LGA, and Ariam and Ndoru markets in Ikwuano LGA.

As more markets continue to benefit from this Initiative, which has led to increase in sales and profits for traders, and availability of goods and services for consumers even at late hours, Senator Austin Akobundu is showing a relentless commitment to the socioeconomic growth of his constituency. According to him in a recent interview, “Leadership is all about the people.” And, indeed, he is walking his talk.
