Just In: Governor Adeleke Fumes Over The Sentence Of A Young Man For Stealing Fowl.

Governor Adeleke Orders Investigation into Report of Young Man Sentenced to Death for Stealing a Fowl in Osun

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has ordered a full investigation into the case of a young man reportedly sentenced to death by hanging for stealing a fowl. The governor has also directed the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice to initiate the process of granting prerogative of mercy to the young man.

The reported judgment has sparked public outrage, with many Nigerians taking to social media to criticize the perceived disparity in the justice system. Some commentators called for an investigation into the actions of the judge or magistrate who handed down the sentence.

One commenter said, “It is appalling that a judge/magistrate could give such a ruling on such an offence. The Nigeria Judicial Council (NJC) should investigate the magistrate/judge who pronounced this verdict and review all concluded cases under their name.”

Governor Adeleke’s intervention has been widely welcomed, with many urging him to pursue justice not only in this case but also in other similar cases of judicial excess. The governor assured citizens that the matter would be handled with urgency and fairness.
