KWECHIRI: IKWUANO/UMUAHIA HAS DECIDED TO STAND FIRM AGAINST BUBUYAYA

In the markets of Isi Gate, in the farms of Ikwuano, in the staff quarters of MOUAU, and in the civil service secretariat in Umuahia, one word is defining the political mood ahead of 2027. That word is Kwechiri. It is not found in the English dictionary, but every true son and daughter of Ikwuano/Umuahia understands it. Kwechiri means to stand fast, to stand firm, to plant your feet and refuse to be swayed by any form of fakery, drama, or lies. It is the new resolve of a people who have suffered too long from political Bubuyaya.
WHAT KWECHIRI MEANS: THE DEATH OF POLITICAL GULLIBILITY
Kwechiri is a semi-slang in Igbo parlance, but its meaning is profound. It is the point where a man says “enough” to deceit. It is refusing to be moved by the usual end-of-year rice, by staged empowerment photos, by press releases that have no bearing on the Green Chamber. It is the political maturity of a constituency that has finally learned to separate substance from show. Bubuyaya thrives when people are gullible; Kwechiri is the antidote that kills gullibility.
KWECHIRI IS WHY 80% HAVE SAID ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
Kwechiri is the reason over 80% of Ndi Ikwuano/Umuahia have decided that enough is enough of near invisibility in the representation of our constituency in the Green Chamber. We have watched on national television as other constituencies debate national issues, and our seat remains empty, our voice muted, our presence incognito. The people have done their evaluation: the more you look at this comatose architecture of representation, the less you see. And so, they have stood firm – Kwechiri – that this cannot continue beyond 2027.
THE TYRANNY OF THE MORE-YOU-LOOK-THE-LESS-YOU-SEE
For years, we have endured the tyranny of the more-you-look-the-less-you-see representation. Look for a bill that bears our name – you see nothing. Look for a motion that addresses the death trap called Umuahia-Ikwuano road – you see nothing. Look for federal jobs, for attraction of projects to MOUAU, for interventions for our youth – you see nothing. Kwechiri is the people’s response to this tyranny. It is a firm, unshaken decision that we will no longer reward non-performance with re-election.
KWECHIRI IS WHY ONE NAME DOMINATES EVERY CONVERSATION
Kwechiri is the reason the name Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji is the topic of political conversations in Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency. When a people decide to stand firm, they naturally look for a firm man to stand with. They look for a man who himself Kwechiri – who stood firm as Speaker, who did not wobble under pressure, who held the gavel with courage and balance. In every village meeting, every youth gathering, every women fellowship, one question echoes: when is Ikuku coming?

Umuahia is where Abia is governed, yet our federal constituency is governed by invisibility. _Kwechiri_ is the resolve to correct this anomaly. The most powerful carriers of the Kwechiri spirit today are the youths and women of Ikwuano/Umuahia. They have been deceived the most by Bubuyaya – with empowerment that does not empower, with promises that disappear after elections. Ikwuano/Umuahia needs a bridge between Abuja and home that refuses to break under weight. For years, the bridge collapsed immediately after elections. Rt. Hon.
