At UNGA 81, Dr. Chima Anyaso Meets Former Mauritius President, Abia, Ebonyi , Katsina First Ladies, Media Entrepreneur
The Labour Party’s candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr. Chima Anyaso, has held a series of engagements with prominent African leaders, Nigerian First Ladies and media personalities on the sidelines of activities surrounding the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 81) in New York, United States of America.
Among those Dr. Anyaso met was Dr. Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, former President of Mauritius, who served as the country’s President from 2015 to 2018.
The engagements also included Mrs. Priscilla Otti, First Lady of Abia State; Hajiya Fatima Dikko Radda, First Lady of Katsina State; and Her Excellency, Chief Mrs. Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru, First Lady of Ebonyi State.
Dr. Anyaso also met Mr. Anthony Dara, founder of News Central Media and a prominent Nigerian media entrepreneur. Dara founded News Central and has been involved in the development of Nigerian and African broadcast media platforms.
The meetings took place as global leaders, policymakers, development partners, business leaders and other stakeholders converge on New York for the high-level week of the 81st UN General Assembly, which runs from September 22 to 28, 2026. The 2026 General Debate is being held under the theme, “Restoring trust, managing transformation: A United Nations that delivers for all.”
For Dr. Anyaso, the engagements provide an opportunity to interact with individuals with experience across governance, diplomacy, development, media and public leadership, while participating in the wider conversations taking place around sustainable development, international cooperation and Africa’s development.
His participation in UNGA comes as part of his broader engagements in New York, including his participation in a Global Reputation Forum UNGA 2026 side event focused on “Beyond Borders, Building Prosperity That Lasts: The Sustainable Development Agenda” which will further place Bende from 2027 within the wider international conversations taking place around development, investment, partnerships, innovation and sustainable prosperity.
