IKENNA UKWA’S FREE TRANSPORT SCHEME BRINGS IMMEDIATE RELIEF TO OHAFIA RESIDENTS
Sometimes, the true measure of leadership is not found in campaign speeches or promises, but in the lives that are touched through timely intervention.
Today, the free transportation scheme initiated by Hon. Chief Ikenna Nicolas Ukwa came alive as residents of Ohafia, particularly school children, farmers, traders, and commuters, took advantage of the service running from Amaekpu to Akanu.
The photographs tell a compelling story. They capture school children boarding the vehicles with their backpacks, commuters finding seats, and ordinary citizens who would otherwise have faced the stress of trekking long distances or paying high transport fares. These are not staged moments; they are real life scenes of a people finding relief in a period of transportation difficulty.
Since the ban on commercial motorcycles (Okada) in Ohafia, many families have struggled with movement. Children have had difficulty getting to school, traders have found it harder to move their goods, and many residents have had to endure unnecessary stress just to carry out their daily activities.
Recognizing these challenges, Hon. Chief Ikenna Nicolas Ukwa responded with action rather than words. Through the Ikenna & Jenn Ukwa Foundation and the Ikenna Ukwa Progressive Group, he introduced this temporary free transport scheme to cushion the effects of the transportation crisis and ensure that the burden on the people is reduced.
This intervention goes beyond transportation. It restores dignity, offers hope, eases financial pressure on struggling families, and reassures the people that they are not alone during challenging times.
The smiles, the grateful expressions, and the orderly movement of passengers are evidence that this initiative is achieving its intended purpose. It is a practical example of people-first leadership leadership that listens, understands, and acts.
As the scheme continues, residents are encouraged to make good use of the service and support this noble initiative.
Together, we can ensure that this temporary intervention continues to provide relief to those who need it most.
When leaders choose service over politics, the people become the greatest beneficiaries.
Today in Ohafia, the impact of Hon. Chief Ikenna Nicolas Ukwa’s free transportation scheme is visible for all to see.
