Abia Governor, Dr. Alex Otti Inaugurates Expanded Board of ASUBEB, Charges Them to Sustain the Efforts of Government on Revitalization of Basic Education.
In his effort towards strengthing basic education in the state, the Governor, Dr.Alex Chioma Otti OFR recently approved the expansion of the board of Abia State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) to reflect the provisions of the law.
During the innuguration of the board recently, the Governor represented by the Secretary to the state government Professor Kenneth Kalu enjoined the members of the board to remain focused and ready to sustain the effort towards revitalising basic education in Abia in line with the policy thrust of the present administration. Continuing, he commended the Executive Chairman of the board Lady Lydia Ezihe Onuoha for her transformative programmes in the board stating that ASUBEB has done well. Noting that the governor prioritizes education, he charged both the new and old members to work as a team.
In her response on behalf of the board, the Executive Chairman Lady Lydia Ezihe Onuoha assured the governor of the readiness of the board to deliver on her core mandate. She exrayed the achievements of the board under her watch which includes digitalisation of the board, regular payment of staff salaries among others.
She thanked the governor for giving them the opportunity to serve and assured him their commitment towards working as a team aimed at realising the mandate of the board in line with the provisions of the extant rules. The members of the full ASUBEB board as innuguarated are: Lady Lydia Ezihe Onuoha Executive Chairman, Dr Onyebuchi Onyegbule (FTM1), Lady Chioma Nwogwugwu (FTM 11), Hon. Harrison Onuke (FTM 111), Dr. Uzoamaka Amah-Mba (Board Secretary), others are Comrade Isdore A. Ibebuike PhD (NASU Chairman), Comrade Friday Madu(NUT Chairman),Mrs. Ijeoma Umunna, Chief Henry Enwerem, Mrs. Uloma Nwachukwu, Mr. Amechi Isaac and Dr. Favour Egeonu.
